Did You Know....

That Rusty and Dorothy Ehrenfeld celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year (2019). They were married at St. Anslem Church in Swissvale, PA. on February 8, 1964.  The reception was held at the Braddock Fire Hall.

That our branch of the family had 4 multiple baby births?

  1. Simon girls - twins born 1898, Hastings, PA (pictured)
  2. Majetic girls - twins born 1973, Coraopolis, PA
  3. Vybiral boys - twins born 1976, Erie, PA
  4. Vybiral girls - triplets born 2005, Savannah, GA

Did You Know...

That our Grandpa & Grandma, Peter & Anna Simon, loved to hook rugs on a great big loom on Spring Garden Ave?  Especially Grandpa.  The original loom is still in the family today.

Did You Know...

That Uncle Tom Simon had a darkroom in the cellar of 1124 Spring Garden Ave?  Two decades later, his nephew and namesake, Tom Vybiral, used the same darkroom to develop and print photos for the North Side Tutorial Project Photo Club. This was a work study program sponsord by Duquesne University.

That our family has had an active member in all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces?

Did You Know...

That Peter M. Simon walked and hitched over 100 miles from Hastings, Pa to Pittsburgh in 1928 to find a job?

Did You Know...

That Frank J. Vybiral had a natural, musical ability to pick up almost any instrument and play it by ear?  Most noted for his harmonica, zither, and organ music. 

Did You Know...

That one year, Louise Vybiral took our little electric organ down to a St. Nicholas Mother's Guild Christmas party?  She and Gen Ehrenfeld played it for the party. 

Did You Know...  That young Louise Simon earned a blue ribbon for a standing broad jump in gymnastics at the Sarah Heinz House?  In swimming, her brother Bill Simon taught Louise to do a "gaynor" - standing on the high dive, do a bounce and dive in backwards!  Louise was an excellent swimmer and earned her Lifeguard Certificate at the Sarah Heinz Camp.  Louise said, "Sarah Heinz House was our 2nd home."
